I saw Mr Barrie White in clinic on the 3rd June 2014. He spent a great deal of time with myself and my husband, carefully explaining his thoughts on my problem....which in truth, is not clear cut to diagnose. I have spent nearly 10 years seeing many different Doctors, and he has now at last given me some hope that he will try and resolve my pain which worsens every week that goes by. He has asked for a further diagnostic test to be done (myelogram), and then hopefully he will proceed with surgery. I found Mr White a very caring and kind Doctor, and I have every faith he will do his utmost to help me. I look forward to seeing him again, hopefully as an in patient for surgery.

Doctor White has just performed neck surgery on me.His team and himself are excellent and the care and after support I have had are a credit to the NHS system. From the first MRI scan to the operation its self was an experience I will never forget. Mr Whites secretary Lawire inpaticular was very caring and made me feel very calm about the operation. Mr Cameron and co should appreciate this kind of care and give more financial support to not only the Neurosurgery department but the whole of the NHS.Looking forward to seeing Doctor White again at the follow up appointment.

I was referred to Dr White as an MRI had shown Chiari Malformation but symptoms that I am experiencing are not normally associated with the condition. Prior to the consultation, my husband and I had not received much information about Chiari but had obviously looked it up online and had alot of questions. Throughout the consultation, Dr White was brilliant. He took the time to listen to us and we felt he answered questions as honestly as he could. We never felt rushed or that we were asking 'stupid' questions. He was thorough and gave us a plan as to what to expect next, which regards to more scans etc... which has materialised. After leaving the appointment, even though what we had heard was a bit more serious than what we had anticipated, we weren't worried or anxious but believed firmly that Dr. White was in our corner.

I was diagnosed just over a year ago with Arnold Chiari Malformation - the diagnosis itself was hard to take, and have spent the last year trying to figure out what this condition meant to me, and how I was to progress forward. I saw Mr White for the first time recently as a second opinion, and felt thoroughly relieved as soon as I left his office. He was attentive, compassionate and professional and never made me feel that I was wasting his time. I attended the appointment with my mum, and he listened to both of our concerns and questions. I never once thought I was being rushed, and came out with positive hope for the future. He clearly explained options for treatment and advised on risks/benefits of surgery if I were to choose to have it. He also explained pain management. At the end of the consultation, he also advised me that if I needed another appointment with him to discuss things again, I could have that - this is something I've never been offered before. It's a great relief to know that if I have any further questions, I can contact his team. Truly thankful for the consultation I had with him, and can now look to the future in a more positive light - surgery or not! Many thanks Mr White!

Mr White is an amazing and caring doctor. Not only has he operated on me twice in a three year period but he also takes into consideration the feelings of the patients spouse/partner. After my last operation a few weeks back he personally phoned my partner to say everything went okay. He explains your treatment very clearly and in easy to understand terms. If you need to speak with him on the phone with a concern he will always call you back once you have called his secretary.
